Pixie Whimzy & Energy

Not sure what I really want to post about today but here goes. Yesterday's topic was honesty, today is going to be gender roles.

After having a lengthy discussion with my partner on the subject, apparently, I need more "masculine energy" into our home enviroment. It's not that she doesn't like me for the person that I am, but is worried that I am not being the provider/protector a woman needs from a man.

Why can't I be both? Her answer, "You need to be one or the other."

I fundlementally dissagree with that premise. Why can't a man be just as strong as a crossdresser/transvestite as the same as an alpha male? There go those stereotypes again. Perhaps we are all dissolutioned by the way society fundlementally sees men & women. It is only recently, that men can be "metrosexual" and more effemenient.

Some European countries are even elminating gender classifications when babies are born.

I guess the point I am trying to make is it is a complete double standard; women can wear pants but heaven forbid a man to wear a skirt or dress! Even the things that are classified by society as "girl only" (i.e. playing with barbies or make up) are off limits to a man.

I'm a man that loves makeup. I love musicials and my favorite Disney princess is Ariel. So automatically, society would deem me as a gay man. This is simply not the case.

There is a HUGE line between gender and sexual preference. Most people just won't take the time to look at the differences.

I would prefer to say that I am "hetro-flexible." Now, that is a word that has been coined to re-define bi-sexuality(i.e. enjoys sexual relations with both men and women). But I don't like men sexually. So where do I fit in that label?

I enjoy the company of women(sexually), and prodominately I live my life as a male, but I am also comfortable in the "role" of being a woman. I also, enjoy the company of men(freindship wise). I'm not afraid to rub a man's feet or give a man a massage. However, there goes society's norms and excpectation levels again. To society, I can't be both. I have to make a choice, pick it and stick with it.

To that, I say I can be both. I just have to be able to use the energy each provides me in a positive outlet and learn patience when dealing with the zeitgeist of gender roles and expectations-cause they are changing.
